Summer is without a doubt my absolute favorite season. Give me longer days, warmer nights, and road trips to the beach. Living in New England, I tend to find myself wearing sneakers to the beach more often than not. Sperry is more than just your classic boat shoes, they also have sneakers. Be it for the beach or to brunch, they’ve got tons of options to style as you please.

Since I often wear jeans, sneakers have quickly become my go-to weekend shoe choice. But really, grabbing my Sperry Crest Vibe sneakers is always a great option no matter what I’m wearing!

With the unofficial start of summer, and me having zero chill, I’ve already worn my sneakers more times than I care to share. This weekend I have a wedding, and if I could get away with it, I would totally wear them instead.

Are you judging me or would you wear these sneakers everywhere too?

Sperry My Way

I am beyond excited to share some news with you all! I’ve partnered with Sperry to show you how I style their shoes, and do prep, my way.

I got my first pair of Sperry boat shoes a pretty long time ago. I wore them often. Usually with khakis. I didn’t even like khaki’s all that much, but I loved those shoes. And that’s kind of how I just thought you had to wear them. It never really occured to me that how others might expect you to wear something, or how you think other might expect you to wear something, can simply be tossed out the window.

With that belief of what prep was in the past where it belongs, I have learned to embrace it. Now, I am not saying that I am preppy. My personal style is far to casual for that. What I’m saying is that I can appreciate good quality products, like these Authentic Original Sperry Boat Shoes, and wear them in a way that looks put together, without compromising what I like.

Even though I like a more easy-going look, I still want to feel cute. A basic dress, made more me with a denim jacket, and my Sperry boat shoes. This outfit took me from work to an evening stroll.

Now that you know that you can do preppy your way, how would you style boat shoes?

Band Tee: Daydreamer | Skirt: Vintage via Vintanthromodern | Boots: Jessica Simpson
Bag: Free People | Jacket: J.Crew (sold out) | Sungalsses: Celine | Necklace: Kate Spade

New York Fashion Week is something that I have always wanted to experience. I don’t know what exactly had stopped me in the past, but I made the commitment to myself to attend. So I did.

While I am very glad that I went, I wish I had done things a little differently. And come September, I plan to. While there things I’d do over if I could, one thing I would not was deciding to wear a band tee. I dressed it up with high heeled booties and layered it with a J.Crew coat, but made sure to stay true to my style.

Here’s a few things that I plan to change up:

  1. Plan ahead. Being in New York for Fashion Week is one thing. Next time I want to immerse myself. Attend presentations, shows, really be a part of it.
  2. Stay a while. One day put a lot of pressure on getting things right, and essentially caused me to fail. Having a hotel or somewhere nearby to stay will take away some of that pressure. I would have the option to change clothes, or even rest for a bit, if needed.
  3. Bring friends. Traveling alone can be great. Most of the time, I actually prefer it. However, NYFW is something that would be way more fun of an experience when shared.

I will also say, that this was probably the first and last time I will attend in February. A cold and wet Bet is a very unhappy, all but crying in the back of a taxi Bet. Have you ever been to NYFW? Are you planning to go? I want to know, so share in the comments here or on Instagram!

Transitional Summer to Fall Outfit

Lace Top: Who What Wear | Jeans: Madewell | Tote: Sseko
Jewelry: Capwell + Co | Sneakers: Keds

You can keep your pumpkin spice lattes.

Give me fall fashion!

This season I’m looking forward to elevating my look a little. I’m partnering with Keds to do just that, by pairing fashion forward pieces with some of my more classic favorites.

Think runway meets the streets.

Like, with this look, lace isn’t exactly something that I own a ton of. I can honestly say that I can count the lace pieces I have on one hand, and even that’s being generous. But, when worn with casual, wear any and everywhere sneakers and my staple vintage inspired jeans, you get a look that is both cutting edge and trendy, yet minimalistic and chic at the same time.

My goal is to curate a fall wardrobe that can create outfits to take you from watching football, to apple picking, to wandering the city, to whatever.

I plan to do all of the above.

Ten times over.

Styled by 5 Featuring Rad Swim

Each month myself and four other boss blogger babes have been styling the same piece of clothing and since we all look and think differently from each other (hair, religion, location, skin, size, height, style…all of the above), you’ll get five totally different looks. That means you’ll get to see what I style, on other body types so you can find something that is best for you!

Peplum Tankini Outfit

Spring for me means one thing. That it’s almost summer. Bring on the sunshine, beach trips, and days by the pool! And thanks to Rad Swim, the Styled by 5 crew is ready. Even if the weather isn’t.

The temperatures in New England are finally going to start feeling like spring. While I don’t have any upcoming plans involving swimwear, I can’t wait until I do. Once that’s the case, I plan to find reasons to wear a bathing suit as often as I can!

This peplum tankini that Deidre, Kaylynn, Jacque, and Lauryn have all styled, has sequins that give it a little extra glitz. A really fun way to stand out. And if that doesn’t appeal so much to you, you can do so subtly, like Kaylynn and I, by opting for it in black.

SO Not Over Overalls

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.

Maybe I’m alone on this, but I am SO not over overalls. It baffles me when anyone tells me that they don’t own any. I own at least three, and have been eyeing two pairs to add to my wardrobe for spring.

While I can’t physically force you to wear overalls, I get that everything isn’t for everyone, I wanted to share some of my Madewell faves.

As soon as the weather warms up, I want to reattempt a capsule wardrobe (a 10 x 10 challenge) and you better believe that a pair of overalls will be included. Maybe even two…

Spring Ready In Uniqlo’s New Collection

Camisole and Gaucho Pants:  Uniqlo

Jogger Pants:  Uniqlo

Whenever I talk about Uniqlo everyone almost always thinks basics, I’m talking white t-shirts and black leggings basic. I’ve even been guilty of that assumption myself. But, after Uniqlo opened on Newbury Street, I quickly discovered that Uniqlo’s got more options that whatever you’re probably thinking.

Uniqlo’s new collection for spring, goes with so much that you already own. Since, in New England, it’s not quite spring yet, they’re great for layering.

Over, under, with, without…

If you can envision it, you can try it!

The two looks above are both neutral, classy outfits that can take you into spring without sacrificing (too much) warmth. I know I’m always cold, so heavier jackets are key. But, when the weather warms up, I’ll switch to something lighter like a trench jacket. I spotted some nice options while shopping around at Uniqlo, so that may have to happen. And hopefully sooner rather than later.

Add a cute purse (I prefer totes, but smaller one are what’s hot right now), a pair of heels (weather permitting), and you’re good to look good! Shop their new spring apparel here.

Club Monaco’s New York Fashion Week Collection Event

New York Fashion Week may be over but with Club Monaco’s New York Fashion Week Collection, you make every day NYFW. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I attended their shopping event with Leslie Musser of One Brass Fox at the Prudential Center.

1. The one thing I had to try on was the Colema Cold Shoulder Sweater. It comes in black and pink, I ended up falling hard for the black one. It’s the right amount of edgy and trendy, without being too over the top.

2. If I were going to go over the top, I spotted the perfect pair of Loeffler Randall heels that would do the trick! Coming in at just under $400, I had to pass on them, but there are definitely on my want list.

3. Deciding to try on a few sale sweaters was a good life choice. The Flutterby Ruffle Sweater was a pretty sweet alternative to the cold shoulder sweater for about $70 cheaper.

4. There was also the Ellodie Sweater, which was another cheaper, but still very on trend option.

5. The sweater I told myself that I was going to buy regardless, was the Mackenzie Stripe Sweater. It’s on sale for $69 and I have this thing with stripes. It would have been perfect, but I couldn’t find it and wanted to try it on first.

Even though I ended up leaving without making a purchase, the event was worth attending and I will be back to shop later on!

The Styled by 5 crew is teaming up with Daniel Wellington to show you how we style our watches. Use the code TWENTYSOMETHINGPLUS to save 15% on your order from www.danielwellington.com and get a Daniel Wellington watch of your very own!

I loved watches when I was younger. Maybe it was a kid thing, maybe it was just me. Either way, I can remember getting my first ever watch, it was a Mickey Mouse one, where his arms were the hands of the clock and had a bright red band. I wouldn’t be surprised if my mom still has it tucked away in a drawer somewhere. Years later, the manfriend and I argued over getting his cousin a watch for Christmas. I won. Both the disagreement and Christmas that year.

Now that I’m older, I’ve found that I haven’t worn watch nearly as often as I used to. That is, at least not until getting this classic one from Daniel Wellington. When I say it goes with everything, I mean that it goes with literally EVERYTHING. You can wearing it with jeans, a dress, for date night, you name it!

For four more ideas on what to wear with your watch, check out Deidre, Kaylynn, Jacque, and Lauryn‘s blogs as well!

What to Wear for Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Party Outfit What to Wear for Super Bowl SundayNew England Pat Levi's NFL Flannel Shirt Super Bowl NFL Fan Style

Flannel Shirt: Levi’s | Denim Jacket: Levi’s | Tank Top: Madewell
Jeans: H&M (similar similar) | Shoes: Madewell | Necklace: Kate Spade

Regardless of whether you are a football fanatic or more like yay sports, you’re probably going to a Super Bowl Party tomorrow. You could always wear a jersey of the team you’re rooting for, but that’s definitely not you’re only option.

If you are rooting for a specific team, rep them by wearing their colors. As a New England Patriots fan, I will be rocking red, white, and blue. Even though I bought my jacket and flannel from the NFL Shop, you don’t have to. Huge football fan? By all means!

This particular outfit is not really New England weather appropriate, so I’ll be wearing it with closed toes shoes, a different pair of jeans, and with the buttons buttoned. But, if you’re looking for Super Bowl Party outfit inspiration, this look is easy enough to duplicate and tweak.
