When Brass Clothing reached out to their customers for real models, I wasn’t going to apply.

Even though I really wanted to. I just didn’t think that I was what they’d had in mind. But as a huge fan of quality local goods, I felt that I owed it to myself to at the very least take a chance.

So, I did.

And you can now find me on the Brass website!

I don’t think I’m enough of a minimalist (more like the epitome of the opposite…) to have a capsule wardrobe. But, I love versatile pieces enough to want to add plenty of Brass to my closet. The three pieces that I own are not the only ones I’ve had my eye on.

I mean, The Ponte Pants?!

This dress isn’t one that I modeled for their website. I actually found it on their Last Change Room page. However, they did recently restock a very similar style (and in three different colors)!

My Mermaid Life

My Mermaid Life Old Navy Swim Scalloped Bikini

In another life, I swear I was a mermaid.

When I was asked, what my favorite Disney movie growing up was, without missing a beat I would reply, Cinderella. (Our family dog was even named Bruno, just like Cinderella’s. I’d had to convince my little brother that it was cool because of Bruno the Kid.)

That is until it came up in front of my older sister. She cut me off and was basically like, no. Apparently, I made her watch The Little Mermaid over and over again. While singing the songs. And putting a red t-shirt on my head, pretending it was hair.

I remember having a stuffed Flounder, but I didn’t think it was that serious.

But, it makes sense.

When I saw a red scalloped bikini, I wanted it. Bad. But wasn’t willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for a bathing suit! Even if it was killer.

Thankfully, I was told that Old Navy had a similar one, just in time to buy it while it was on sale for 40% off. And with their Super Cash promotion I was able to get an additional $10 off. I ended up spending less than $20 for the top and bottom!

2 Ways to Wear Something: J. Crew Stadium-Cloth Cocoon Coat

Orange Coat

My little nook of New England finally got hit with some snow.

But not before I was able to put together a couple of outfit with wear with a winter coat.

This J. Crew Stadium-Cloth Cocoon Coat was my most recent wardrobe investment. I got it last winter and it was definitely worth it for how often I wear it.

You can also save big by getting it from J. Crew Factory!

I wanted to show you just how easy it is to wear it both casually and a little more formally. And if a pair of overalls and a tight little black dress don’t demonstrate that then I don’t know what else could.

I told you I’d make an effort to wear my So Kate heels more.

And given how cold out it is now, I’ll probably be doing the same thing with this coat.

A lot!

Plus, my sister did my hair and I can’t even handle it!

It’s been well over a month since my turquoise tips first graced Instagram with it’s presence, which means I am WAY past due for getting it done over. I really like this color and I’ve gotten SO many compliments, but I thinking about maybe switching it up. Maybe.

How to Transition Your Sandals for Fall

Disclaimer: This blog post contains an affiliate link or two… Yeah, two. I just counted.

It seems like everyone is excited for fall. Pumpkin soy latte this, blanket scarf that…

I mean I love wearing sweaters too, but right now my desire to wear open toes shoes definitely outweighs my urge to go apple picking. And right now it’s still warm enough to do both. Yay for being able to continue rocking your sandals while also prepping for Halloween!

A super easy way to take your summer sandals and make them feel a little more this season? Giving yourself a autumn colored pedi is the perfect way to transition your sandals for fall!

My mom gave me these OPI minis that she’d been holding onto. I’m currently wearing Malaga Wine, but will probably switch to Lincoln Park After Dark later this week…

The only way to know for sure is to stalk my Instagram feed.

Can you tell that summer is my favorite season? Maybe I just need some apple crisp in my life…

Fitting Room Sesh: Old Navy

One of my New Year’s resolutions this year was to shop less. I knew that if I quit shopping cold turkey, that I end up blowing money on a massive shopping spree and that would kind of defeat the purpose. My goal was to cut out particular spending each month. So January, no clothes shopping, which continued into February. March is going to be no makeup shopping, and I’ll figure out the rest as I go. I also just generally tried to shop less than I normally would.

Aside from a few Poshmark hiccups in January, I have been doing really well with this. So to reward myself, I set today aside to go clothes shopping. I went to Old Navy and was pleasantly surprised by their spring collection this year. Normally I would go into every store, but part of my method of shopping less is pick a destination in advance to avoid mass impulse buying. Another part of my method is to try on everything first, this way I know if I like how it looks on and know for sure that it fits.

Even though I wanted it all, I ended up getting the black dress, the blush sweater, the blush top, a sweatshirt for a diy project that I saw on A Beautiful Mess, and a harness for one of my dogs (it was on clearance and so was the blush sweater).

See anything you like? What do you think I should have gotten?
